Six Nations KickOff

Six Nations KickOff

In an attempt to branch the KickOff project in to other sports, Six Nations KickOff was setup for the 6 Nations rugby tournament which occurs during February and March of every year.

Comprising of six of the biggest rugby teams from around Europe - the Home Nations (England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland), France and Italy - the tournament has a huge following among the rugby community so it made sense to venture into this market.

The beauty of the tournament is the simple organisation.

  • Teams only face each other once (no return legs are played) so each clash is even more exciting and important than most other competitions.
  • It also means there are only 15 games to follow every year which keeps your calendar relatively clean and simple.
  • Games are staggered as well so they don’t kick off at the same time.

The website design is relatively simple, as to emphasise the simplicity of the tournament and website process. By implementing a darker olive green theme to the website, it added that rugged feel that is often associated with rugby, as well as the elegant charm that comes with the sport. The addition of the rugby ball as a symbol helps to endorse the purpose of the website.

Visitors to the website can download or subscribe to a calendar of the entire tournament or just the matches of an individual team.

Rather than seperating calendars by years, it made sense to keep all the information available on an ongoing basis, allowing users to delve in to past or future seasons for comparison.
