From a young age, I have always been interested in audio engineering. Whether it was spending hours on a twin cassette deck editing mixtapes for friends, learning to play the keyboard and guitar or spinning some tunes in a club for kicks, the joy and buzz of that end creation can never be taken away.

Now that the Internet allows for people to share music with such ease, what’s stopping me from joining in, showcasing the audio treats I spend many hours pouring my soul into…?

Until I find the time to produce my own material, my main outlet for audio production is through my highly successful podcast under the guise of One Phat DJ.

Since the Summer of 2005, I have been mixing and producing the One Phat DJ Podcast - a regular show of the latest funky house tunes, professionally mixed and shared through a free podcast for all to enjoy.

The main motivation behind the podcast is to promote new music to the masses, music that wouldn’t usually make it to the mainstream.

I am also a keen advocate of legal downloads. Every podcast is full of music that can be purchased legally online, often from popular websites like iTunes, DJ Download and Traxsource, and I constantly remind regular listeners to buy the music they enjoy to reward the artists appropriately.

The podcast is hugely successful all around the globe too…

• There are over 1,800 regular subscribers to the podcast with each mix exceeding 4,000 downloads.
• iTunes regularly feature the podcast in their dance podcast charts.
• The Facebook Fan Group has over 200 members and is still growing to this day.

It is easy to see why the podcast as seen as one of the most popular dance music podcasts on the Internet.

The podcast has also been hugely accepted by labels, producers and artists from within the dance music industry.

• Founder of Hed Kandi and Fierce Angels Mark Doyle has given it his seal of approval.
• Artists such as the Bassmonkeys, Bonnie Bailey, Peyton, Inaya Day and Dennis Christopher have sent thanks for the support.
• Even other podcast DJs such as Paul Velocity and DJ Ruxpin have featured One Phat DJ in their own podcasts.
