Fierce Angels: The Collection
It’s been a while since Fierce Angels release a compilation, a good four months ago back in July to be exact. So, it comes as no surprise they’ve put all their eggs in one basket, overlooking Es Vive and Angels Fall this year, going straight for a monster release in The Collection, just in time for Christmas.

Consisting of 33 huge house tracks, this is one for the collection on your shelf.
Some of my personal favourites among the tracks are the Fierce Angel Collective tracks with the awesome Soraya Vivian on vocal duty, Melissa Indot opening the compilation with “Starlight” and a whole host of belters from the past year including Freemasons, Joey Negro, K Klass, Hott 22 and Sounds of Soho.
Check out The Collection video advert below for a proper taster.

Red Nose Avatars for Comic Relief
Red Nose Day is happening this coming Friday.
For those who are complete unaware of the event, it is a huge charity event organised by Comic Relief and fronted by the BBC that uses comedy to raise money for worthy causes in Africa and the UK.
The concept was founded by writer and director Richard Curtis (famous for films like Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill as well as hugely successful TV series like Blackadder and The Vicar of Dibley) and has gone on to be one of the most successful charity events in the UK.
Anyway, the online presence for Red Nose Day has really come into itself this year - they have setup Twitter accounts, Bebo, Facebook and MySpace pages as well as Flickr and YouTube pools.
In an attempt to raise even more awareness for the event and to show your support, I have created three Red Nose avatars based on the three noses available to buy this year.
Feel free to use them as your own avatar around the internet. I’ve used it as my Twitter, Facebook and Flickr avatar as they are my most used websites but you can use them wherever you spend most your time.
The images are 32-bit transparent PNGs so should look good on any background.
Buy a Red Nose from their website or at participating Sainsburys or WH Smiths. It’s only £1 with 85p going straight to the charity.
The Origins of The Shapeshifters’ Lola’s Theme
Back in 2003, one of my all time favourite tracks was released - The Shapeshifters‘ “Lola’s Theme“. The catchy vocals, the uplifting instrumentals - every aspect of the tune was what made a perfect house record for me. It quickly became a firm favourite in my record box and iPod, as well as among the crowds I went clubbing with.
So imagine my surprise this morning when I was informed by DJ Cruze that not only was the instrumental a sample but so were the vocals.
That trademark string sample is from What About My Love by Johnny Taylor - a disco track from 1984 - and the chorus is from Love Me Tonight by Anthony White - an acid house track from 1994.
For anyone who is a fan of Lola’s Theme, don’t forget the 2008 Re-Edit has just been released on Defected. It’s a little more of a twisted electro affair this time round but still got that original charm in my opinion.
