French Kissing Flawless Recordings
Today sees the first release on a new independent house music digital record label in the UK, Flawless Recordings.
The newly formed division within the Flawless brand is expecting to make a huge impact with its debut track, Fuzed ft Lia Rae - French Kissing.
Flawless have delivered an exceptionally strong first release, which has surprised many industry professionals from what they have pulled out of the bag. With remixes from the flawless Reza, personal favourites Bassmonkeys, Stereo Jackers, Trilogy Project, Audio Vandals and Hi Volume, there’s a style to suit all fans of house music.
After carefully distributing its promo release to its A-List of global artists, the uptake from DJs has been quite overwhelming and has already created a stir.
I’ve been loving the track since I heard it a few weeks ago, so much so the Bassmonkeys Remix was featured in Funky House Finesse 25 and the Trilogy Project remix has been lined up for this week’s show (Funky House Finesse 26).
To celebrate the release, Flawless are holding one of their prestigious nights at Mango in Reading, Berkshire. With a live PA of French Kissing from the talented Lia Rae and an unmissable two hour set from Danny and Mike off of the Bassmonkeys, it’s sure to be a top night.
French Kissing is available to buy from today on the following digital stores:
Flawless Recordings has been created by Flawless directors Steve Westover, Tom Upton and Mark Masters (the latter two are also behind the hugely popular House Music Podcasts) each adding there unique expertise to the label. Flawless Recordings is part of the new generation of labels pushing and breaking through new producers & artists and aims to provide the worlds finest DJs with fresh, innovative and up-coming talent.
I’m personally looking forward to what the future holds for Flawless Recordings and hear there is an amazing followup to French Kissing from one of my all-time favourite vocalists. The early sample sounds hot so keep your eyes on my Twitter stream for an early exclusive.
A Little Fierce III
Just before Christmas, I received an nice early present from my friends at Fierce Angels HQ. I had been speaking with Mark Doyle and his better half about upcoming releases last month so wasn’t completely unsurprised to open the envelope to find in all it’s glory the latest compilation, A Little Fierce III.

In theme with previous A Little Fierce releases, this is a single CD “sampler” compilation of tunes featured in Fierce Angels DJ boxes - past, present and future. Mark has been a busy man in 2008, DJing all around Europe and Asia, and he has certainly amassed an eclectic selection of tunes from his travels.
There are appearances from some regular Angels such as The Bassmonkeys and Peyton, as well as new Angels such as Lol and Gianluca Motta plus a handful of dance legends remixed for good measure - I’m sure most of you are familiar with the likes of Crystal Waters, Gusto and Alison Limerick.
The beauty of A Little Fierce III is the price. With everyone scrounging for pennies during the “credit crunch”, Fierce Angels are only asking for a penny less of a fiver for all 15 tracks (the price may vary slightly from store to store). How can you argue with that?
I’ve been listening to A Little Fierce III for a few weeks now and must say I love it! There are a few tracks I felt could have made way for newer tracks - Peyton’s “Sensitivity” is not exactly new to my ears, surely he’s due something new by now - but, in general, it’s a great mix of tunes sure to keep your head bopping and feet tapping for 80 minutes. Tracks that particularly stand out for me include the Out Of Office remix of Energy 52’s “Cafe Del Mar” - an amazing remix of an all time classic - and “Good Times” from Wheels & Disco - terrificly uplifting with fantastic vocals.
I’m also glad to hear Fierce Angels will be releasing A Little Fierce III (and all their future releases) as a digital download, making it a lot easier to grab your copy and also a lot quicker (no waiting for CDs to arrive in the post). This is one of my only pet-peeves with the Fierce Angels releases previously - it’s great to see they’ve realised the potential of digital downloads.
You can buy a CD copy of A Little Fierce III from Play for £6 or Amazon for £4.98 from January 26th 2009.
A special download version of A Little Fierce III is also available on iTunes for £4.74 which includes all the tracks as DJ friendly unmixed MP3s.
